CCAR has been nationally recognized as an innovator in the effort to reduce stigma and effect positive change in politics and treatment.

THE FIX, a website which gives the "straight up" on addiction and recovery, recently did some research to find ten people in the country who have been the most influential in changing how the world looks at addiction, and offering solutions to this illness. To quote THE FIX, they sought "ten relatively anonymous pioneers who've had a profound impact on the recovery field".

Today we are humbled and proud to say that two people very close to CCAR have been named to that list. The first is William White, who has worked hand in hand with CCAR since the very beginning, published numerous articles and books, and been a great source of knowledge for all those making social and political decisions regarding recovery. The second, CCAR's current Executive Director, Phil Valentine. Phil's response? "How could you pick one person out of the thousands of people working on the frontline?”
