The Bridgeport Recovery Community Center (BRCC) is in the heart of downtown Bridgeport. It is a 2300 sq. ft open space visited frequently during the week where one can get support for treatment and recovery options, computer’s with internet access, all recovery meetings, scheduled trainings & workshops, community resource information, social activities, recovery housing, phones and fax machine, referrals to services, and much more.
Part of CCAR’s premise is peer to peer recovery support services. CCAR’s volunteer program attracts many persons in recovery, family and friends with opportunities to give back in many ways. Telephone Recovery Support is just one initiative being provided daily to provide persons with continuous support in their recovery. The Center is a major recovery pathway to persons navigating and accessing services. It continues to be of assistance to the entire Greater Bridgeport Community.

Ms. Jackie Moffatt
Bridgeport Recovery Community Center is pleased to introduce Ms. Jackie Moffatt as our volunteer of the month.
Jackie began her recovery journey in 2007 and wanted to give back to the recovery community what was given to her. Jackie learned of CCAR from her mentor and she learned of the opportunity to volunteer, she joined the volunteer team as of June 2011. Jackie started out her volunteer experience making Telephone Recovery Support calls, after some time of providing telephone support; the opportunity to attend the Recovery Coach Academy was presented to her. Jackie attended the week long intensive training and received her recovery coach certificate. Jackie has been providing individual recovery coaching here at the center since June 2011. Jackie has done an exceptional job at networking with community providers, engaging women in recovery and helping them reach their recovery goals. What sets Jackie apart is her straightforward, empathetic and sincere approach to recovery coaching.
Jackie not only gives of her time to CCAR but she is a full time student at Housatonic College and is a double major in behavioral health and human services. She plans to use her experience and academic degree to continue assisting women in the areas of domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health.
We at CCAR applaud Jackie for her dedication and outstanding contributions to the recovery community at BRCC and are pleased to name her volunteer of the month.
PRISONERS
Some of them came with heads hung down
Some of them felt so safe and sound
Some of them came in all alone
While, some of them feel like they’re at home
Some of them…
Some of them love to cuss and fuss
Some of them are never in a rush
Some of them want to stay in jail
While, some of them just can’t make that bail
Some of them…
Some of them just have too much pride
Some of them need a friend outside
Some of them don’t belong in here
And some of their hearts are filled with fear
Just some of them…
Some of them say their prayers at night
Some of them know their wrong from right
Some of them just can’t take the strife
But,
All of them will be scarred for life
Not just some of them.
